Editor's Heart for May 2023
Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
|
|
Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.
|

We cannot over emphasize the importance of keeping, guarding, watching over our own hearts! In this Scripture, the writer advises us that the very course of my life is determined by my heart. In other words, the things I have hidden away in my heart (both good and evil) will determine my direction. What a sobering precept! The things in my heart that no one sees (except God who sees everything) will influence the direction and outcomes of my whole life!

Knowing that, we cry out, "Help me, Father, to keep (guard/watch over) my heart!" But wait... HOW do I do that?? The terms used here -- keep & guard & watch over -- also bring to mind admonitions in the Scripture to be alert or aware, to be vigilant or watchful. It is so important that we work hand in hand with Holy Spirit as He warns us of offenses, bitterness, unforgiveness trying to take root in us. When we refuse to be offended, when we choose to forgive as we have been forgiven, there is no place in us for bitterness to creep in and plant itself in us. So today (while it is called TODAY) let us hear His voice and defeat the nasty spirit of offense, vanquish ALL unforgiveness (no matter how deep), pluck up bitterness at the root! Let us diligently keep our hearts in purity and holiness to the glory of God, in the name of Jesus, by the power of Holy Spirit!

The Breathe, Mother! brunch was such a beautiful and powerful time of sharing and fellowship! Our speakers were Carolyn Williams (Healing Hearts Grief Support Group), Dr. Brigette Deville (Christian counseling), Tina Manry (Breathe LIFE admin), and Nissa Manry Fulton (Breathe LIFE founder). Alexis Ardoin presented (maybe even declared!) an original work of poetry written by Erika LeSha). And just like GOD frequently does, He used all willing and available vessels to speak a personal word to all those open to receive! Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who presented, everyone who attended, everyone who contributed in some way! And a big shout out to Spoke and Hub for the wonderful accommodations, the excellent service, and the lip-smacking food!

Repentance Call Mission Trips
Repentance Call (RC) mission trips to St. Louis, Missouri, are in prayer. Stay tuned for specific dates and locations! Possible locations: Houston, TX, Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee. Some general guidelines for intercessors:
|
Pray for the churches/ministries in the host city:
• For laborers to be sent into the harvest. (Matt 8:38)
• To return to their first love and have the fire of God rekindled.
• To have God’s heart for the lost.
• Renewed desire to proclaim the gospel in their own city.
• To not be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pray for the RC Team:
• All boldness and clarity to speak the Word of God. (Acts 4:29)
• Health and safety of the team.
• Spiritual preparation for the mission.
• Gentleness, patience, and humility to correct those who are in error. (2 Tim. 2:24-26)
• An open door for the Word to be preached. (Col. 4:2-4)
• To operate in unity and one accord as a team.
• For the world to see the love of God through their love for each other.

• For all financial needs for the mission trip to be met.
|
Pray for the lost in the host city:
• To receive salvation, deliverance, baptism in the Holy Spirit, healing. These things are the will of God, therefore we can ask with boldness.
• To break the spiritual blindness that stops them from seeing and receiving the light of the glory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (2 Cor. 4:4)
• Spiritual thirst. (John 4:13-15)
• Ears to hear and hearts to receive. (Luke 8:11-15)
• To receive the truth of God’s impending judgment and to realize that His goodness is drawing them to repentance. (Romans 2:4)

Breathe L.I.F.E. is resuming some of our foundational outreaches: moonlight ministry; homeless outreaches with food, clothes, and other supplies; park and pray; back to school drives, etc. Follow us on social media (links below), subscribe to this newsletter, and visit our website to stay informed and get involved!

There will be more coming later in the year, such as: HOPE Louisiana will be holding another Love Doesn't Hurt awareness campaign for victims/survivors of domestic violence (and other forms of interpersonal violence); more, more, more street ministry (yay!); community agency outreaches to build a solid services network and discuss with local agencies what the gaps in services are and what we (the Christ-centered community) can do to fill those gaps while still putting the Gospel first. And the list goes on!

There is ALWAYS a need...
We are assembling care packs to have available at all times for giving as led and able. All sorts of items are needed: wash cloth, wipes, soap, shampoo, conditioner, razors, deodorant, tooth paste, tooth brushes, socks, sunscreen, bug spray, dental floss, hair brushes, combs, lotion, grooming products like nail clippers and files, maxi pads, tampons etc etc etc… and Gospel tracts. Not only do these care packs distribute essential personal items to those in need, they open a door for talking about Jesus.

I'd also like to mention that as needs are brought to us, we post on social media to give all an opportunity to meet those needs.
